The DAI Children’s Art Workshops (CAW) at the Amricani Cultural Centre (ACC) are designed for children between the ages of 6 and 12. Cultural Season 22 will be the nineth year of the programme which has averaged more than 40 students per year since its inception.
Our Children’s Art Workshops have proven to be a successful mix of fun and learning, listening and doing – with children creating works of Islamic art and understanding much of the thought behind the originals. During previous seasons, children have tackled numerous subjects including recurring motifs in art from the Islamic world, calligraphy, traditional Gulf music, textiles, ceramics, jewellery, arts of the book, archaeology, story-telling, and architecture. The curriculum also includes field trips to the Arab Fund Building (motifs and architecture), the Maritime Museum (story-telling), Sadu House (indigenous textiles), a dig site (archaeology) and an off-site ceramics workshop. In addition, visits to Amricani Cultural Centre exhibitions are also integrated into the programme.
