Welcome to Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah’s newly redesigned website!

In answer to changing times, the need to facilitate the process of viewing the vast number of events and activities DAI oversees was a main priority in the construction of the new website. Navigating through the pages is now a seamless experience giving visitors aesthetically pleasing visuals to compliment the new platform.

What you see on the homepage below the menu is a sliding banner where feature posts and key information will be posted such as exhibition dates and other announcements. This is a functional element which has proven its effectiveness in conveying information with numerous museums and cultural organisations. Also, the menu has been reshuffled making it easier to view the contents of the different tabs and categories. Under the cultural season tab, you can now download a PDF copy of our annual cultural season’s calendar or you may choose to use our website’s built in calendar which is constantly updated to take into account additional events, postponements and cancellations.

Our cultural season’s theme this year is seals and signets— the bottom left hand side of the page has a section dedicated to featured objects from the collection that fall under that category. The sliding banner will also feature a selected object from the collection which we will post further information on.

You may view all these objects and more in the gallery section under the collection tab. We are constantly in the process of adding newer objects to the gallery and we will keep you updated when additions are made. From an educational standpoint— of keen importance to DAI— the gallery is a particularly useful tool for scholars and academics as well as those from various backgrounds interested in the types of objects the collection holds.

Embedded into the new website is our revamped blog “Nabdh ad-Dar”. Nabdh is the Arabic word for pulse and that is exactly what this blog is: DAI’s pulse.
